This is great bag for what it is. Extremely sturdy, weatherproof, zippers are protected with seams so no water can get in, it feels indestructible in hand. I'm sure it would last me a lifetime. Its very comfortable to wear when filled.Unfortunately, I returned it because I realized it doesn't meet my requirement. I really needed something thats more like an osprey porter. I liked the shape of this bag over the porter, this is little more rectangular compared to the turtleback shape of porter, and the better ruggedness of the bag is great, but the lack of pockets and the lack of laptop compartment made it not best for my use case. I primarily needed this bag to be a carry on item and I could use more handy pockets for camera, electronics, and easy access pocket for boarding pass etc.I tried to put a laptop in a sleeve and then stuff it in the bag on top of all the clothing that was in the bag, but with the laptop the bag felt weird on the bag. Suffice to say, anyone that needs to carry a laptop (even if occasionally), the bag is not meant for that use. However, without the laptop, its extremely comfy and soft on the back. Its a shame that I had to return because, this bag in keystone gray is beautiful and its so sturdy, I really liked it.____________Update:After trying out few other bags including the Osprey porter, REI Ruckpack/trail, Osprey Farpoint, I had an interesting realization that this duffel is really quite simple. There is something to be said about its simplicity, and I ordered it again for this reason. There are no complicated little pockets to search where your stuff is. If you're using packing cubes where most of your stuff goes in 1 big compartment, this can work. I am going to give this bag another try and planning to take it as my carryon (along with a personal item bag) on my upcoming trip to mexico. Some thoughts about this bag vs the osprey Porter 46:1. Due to the softer material this bag when used as backpack, hugged the body better than the Porter. Porter is kindda flat bottomed and it stays few inches away from the body in certain areas making it slightly uncomfortable.2. Porter has lots of pockets so you can organize your stuff. This has only 1 very small pocket on top, which might be able to hold passport/boarding pass and eye glasses. Couple of mesh pockets on the inside, but very minimal otherwise.3. I found Porter to be a little weird to access due to the compression jacket on top. It somehow felt unnatural and complicated to open the little pockets, something always came in the way due to the compression jacket. Farpoint didn't have this problem.4. Its lighter than many other bags with lots of features (aka pockets & straps). At 2.7 lbs, this feels lighter than the porter which is 3.4 lbs. I would've liked it even lighter, but the strong fabric has its weight. There is comfort in knowing that you have a bag that is as strong as this.5. This bag comes in some really unique colors especially that Keystone gray. You'd be hard pressed to find another person in your travel who would have a bag of this color. This can be both good and bad. If you want to fit in, in a new environment in an unknown country and not stand out from the crowd, not good. Black color might blend in better. If you want to be one with a unique color like no other, Good! This is a very sturdy and good looking carry-on bag. If you don't need the wheels, this is one of the best options out there in my opinion. Compared to a quality backpack of similar size, this one has several advantages and disadvantages. Your own needs will decide if this is the bag for you or not.Advantages:- This basically has one main compartment (and a small one on top). This means you can stuff it with a lot more stuff.- It can be carried as a duffel bag or a backpack. (the straps for the backpack can be tucked away when not needed, same with duffel bag strap).- You can fold it (comes with own carrying bag for when you fold it)Disadvantages:- No compartments. (no dedicated compartment for laptop for example)- It's not a very comfortable backpack, no extra support by means of a waist strap. In my case, I wasn't going to carry this bag on my back for long times. I carried it mainly at airports. So this was perfect. It didn't bother me. If I was to carry this bag for several hours, it won't be comfortable. I was able to fill more stuff in it more comfortably than with my other backpack with 3 compartments. I had another small osprey day pack where I put my camera, electronics and laptop. I can't tell you how many times I over stuffed it and never had an issue with quality. I've been on buses, trains and airplanes and it took a lot of beating but looks in perfect condition. Sturdy, quality bag.I used it on multiple European airlines (easyjet, eurowings, etc...) and no one every gave me any trouble. On some flights, easyjet would force people to have their luggage checked in (complimentary) but they let me keep this one because it wasn't that big.I went reviewing multiple bags. I looked at Mormont, Eagle Creek, The North Face and Osprey among others and found that this Transporter series bag is beyond all else. The quality of the bag is fantastic. I got the 40L which is perfect for carry on. I got this at a bargain but worth it at all varying prices. I love the colors, the quality, the spaciousness, the features and convertibility, the comfortable straps and the overall design. The one thing I wish they would have on something like this would be a water bottle holder and maybe a few more pockets. That doesn’t detract from my 5 star rating all around.I looked at this bag for weeks and decided to pull the trigger... I’m glad I did. 98% of you will too.P.S. If this weren’t a carry on item for me I would have purchase the 65L.Bought this in April 2019 before a heavy duty road trip to New Zealand. It worked wonders and gave me the space for carrying all that you need for tough hikes including being water proof and dirt resistant.Only thing I would say would have been a good addition is an extra net pocket outside for holding a water bottle. Did not want to knock off the Star for that but it is a big missing feature so please consider your options before buying. The back panel opens making it easy to pack. A quality piece of kit.Love the colour and the material, about to take it sailing ..... so we will see how well it doesEasy to access contents. Easy to clean. Good in bad weather. Nice designBrilliant bag, well made, roomy and perfect size for onboard luggage.
